Brent Selwyn has been working in the area of property law since 1989. He has been a self employed lawyer since 1994 and after 26 years with one Christchurch firm, he moved to join the growing firm of Kannangara Thomson as a partner in April 2015. He works extensively in the following areas

  • The sale and purchase of residential property
  • The sale and purchase of commercial property
  • Business sales and purchases
  • Asset protection and estate planning law including the use of different structures such as Family Trusts and Look Through Companies
  • Senior law including Occupation Right Agreements, Enduring Powers of Attorney and Wills
  • Shareholder agreements and company law

But it is in the area of Conveyancing that Brent does much of his work and in particular, he has expertise in dealing with all issues which first home buyers face including

  1. The use of your Kiwi Saver funds for either your deposit or at the time of settlement on the sale and purchase of residential property
  2. Applications for the First Home Grant for first home buyers
